With more than 15 years of professional experience in forensic examination, document security and border control, Brezițchii Alexandr currently serves as Head of the Document Expertise Directorate within the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova.

He began his professional career in 2010 within the Technical and Forensic Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova. From 2013 to 2015, he worked within the Directorate for Research and Document Protection Technologies of the Public Services Agency—the national authority responsible for developing and issuing identity and travel documents.

Since joining the Border Police’s Document Expertise Directorate in 2015, Alexandr has progressed from Senior Officer to Head of Directorate. His current responsibilities include the technical and forensic examination of identity and travel documents, the identification of counterfeit and forged documents, the examination of security features, and the development of methodologies and professional capacities in document examination at the border.

He holds Specialist Level Document Expert (SLDE) status within Frontex and participates in the FIELDS project. His Directorate also serves as the national contact point for the PRADO register.

The Directorate’s forensic laboratory has been accredited since 2017 in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, with an accredited scope covering technical document examination, forensic portrait examination and handwriting examination. The laboratory also conducts specialised examinations of identification markings on metal objects, including vehicle identification numbers.

In 2025 and 2026, Alexandr participated in the PCC SEE Thematic Working Group on the Exchange of Information regarding Forged and Fake Travel Documents, contributing to the exchange of expertise on emerging forms, trends and methods of document forgery and misuse.

At FRONTLINERS 2026, Alexandr will share specialised knowledge in technical document examination, security-feature identification and the detection of forged and counterfeit travel documents, shaped by extensive forensic experience and international cooperation.
